Bonnie Lane (Svennes) Nielsen, 75, died Friday, August 25, 2017, at Sunrise Senior Community.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Friday at Canyon Lake United Methodist Church. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial will take place at Black Hills National Cemetery.
Bonnie was born on January 14, 1942, to Leonard and Vera (Conn) Svennes in Estelline. She graduated from Toronto High School in 1960. She married Harlan Nielsen on Dec. 17, 1960, in Toronto.
Bonnie worked for Sears for 20 years and alongside her husband at H/N Electric and BLN Rentals. They were long time South Dakota residents, living in Brookings and Rapid City. The last 16 years Bonnie has been a winter resident in Mesa, Arizona. Bonnie was a full-time resident of Gilbert, Arizona, for the past year. Bonnie loved spending time with her girls, family and friends. Bonnie enjoyed having Monday coffee with friends, reading, walking, traveling and attending all her grandkid’s activities. She enjoyed volunteering at the church, hospital, and helping the Children of the CASA Organization. Bonnie was a member of Canyon Lake United Methodist Church.
Bonnie is survived by four daughters, Tammy (Jim) Sayers of Austin, Texas; Kim (Gary) Kelley of Prescott, Arizona; Theresa Nielsen of Gilbert, Arizona, Kristi (Allen) Blackhurst of Gilbert, Arizona, and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gene and Dale; sisters, Beverly and Betty Lou; and husband, Harlan.
