BROOKINGS – Brookings Police are looking for two suspects who reportedly assaulted a 9-year-old child on Monday, according to Lt. Marci Gebers.

The assault was reported at 4:32 p.m. Monday and occurred at the intersection of Seventh Avenue and Eighth Street, Gebers said.

“At approximately 4:15 p.m., a 9-year-old boy was walking home and crossed paths with two unknown individuals who were walking west from the 700 block of Eighth Street. The boy was pushed down into a snowbank and struck in the back of the head with a beer bottle. The two suspects fled the area and the boy was able to run home safely after receiving minor injuries,” according to a press release from Brookings Police.

“The suspects were described as being approximately 5’7” tall with a slender build. They were wearing black hooded sweatshirts with the hoodies pulled over their faces and cinched tight. Due to the hoodies covering their faces, the victim was unable to see the gender or race of the suspects but it is believed they could be college aged males,” according to the press release.
