BPD: Burglar breaks into pharmacy, steals pain medication

BROOKINGS – A burglar broke into a Brookings pharmacy Thursday night and stole prescription pain medication, according to Brookings Police Lt. Marci Gebers.

The theft was reported at 9:04 a.m. Friday and occurred at Brothers Pharmacy, 1004 Sixth St., Gebers said in a press release.

“Through the course of the investigation, officers learned a male subject forced open a door and gained access into the business around 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2021,” Gebers said. 

“Once inside, the male subject stole several prescription pain medications (controlled substances). The male suspect disabled the video surveillance system prior to exiting the store,” Gebers said.

“The suspect appears to be a Caucasian male with short, dark hair. He was wearing eyeglasses and had a surgical type mask covering a portion of his face,” according to the press release.
