Bradly J. Winker, 61, of Brookings, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at his home.
Memorial services are set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings. Burial will follow at St. Thomas More Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at Rude’s Funeral Home.
Bradly John Winker, born May 22, 1957, in Volga, was the third child of Francis and Georgia (Luthi) Winker. Brad graduated from Brookings High School in 1976 where he distinguished himself by becoming the 1976 South Dakota Heavyweight Wrestling Champion. After obtaining his degree from USD/Springfield he operated and ultimately owned Winker’s Transmission, and had several rental units over the years.
Brad will be remembered as one who doted on his nieces and nephews, and many of his friends’ children. He enjoyed visiting with friends and relatives as well as participating in auto race pit crews. He was an eternally optimistic man.
He is survived by his sisters, Cindy (Chris) Borges and LeAnn (Jon) Birden, both of Argyle, Texas; three brothers, Lonnie (Debbie) Winker of Brookings, Tom (Patricia Stahl) Winker of Sioux Falls and Scott Winker of Garland, Texas, and his nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Brad was preceded in death by this parents Francis and Georgia Winker.
