BROOKINGS – The Brookings Bobcats had a solid day at Thursday’s Steve Berseth Eastern South Dakota Conference Indoor Meet held at the SJAC on the campus of South Dakota State University as the girls scored 733 points to place fourth as a team and the boys tallied 598 points to place sixth.
Brandon Valley won the boys’ team race with 994 points while Yankton took the girls’ division with 837.5 points.
The Bobcats won the boys’ distance medley relay and placed sixth in both the 4x100 and 4x300 relays.
The Bobcat girls finished sixth in the 4x100 relay and seventh in both the 4x300 and DMR.
Individually for the Bobcat girls, Emily Rystrom had the only top finish as the sophomore won the 300-meter dash in 42.66 seconds. She also placed second in the 200 in 27.42.
Grace Eggebrecht took second in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.45 seconds while Ellie Abrahams clocked a 2:25.72 for second in the 800-meter run. Abraham added a third-place mark of 5:23.94 in the 1,600 as Eggebrecht added a fourth-place finish in the 100 in 13.09.
Ellie Hegdahl placed third in the 300 hurdles in 49.95 while Clarissa Miller and Rachel Gannon placed third and fourth in the triple jump with respective marks of 32 feet, 6 1/2 inches and 32 feet, 3 1/4 inches.
Individually for the Bobcat boys, Daniyil Potapenko finished third in the 600-meter run in 1:31.41 as Dillon Jensen matched that place with a throw of 142-3 in the discus.
Seth Swedlund cleared 6 feet to tie for third in the high jump.
The Bobcats are scheduled to compete at the Huron Invitational on Friday, April 6.
