BRANDON – The Brookings Bombers gave up a total of 29 runs in two games as they were swept in a doubleheader against Brandon Valley Monday night.

Game 1

 Brandon Valley 11, Brookings 5

Brandon Valley jumped out to a 6-0 lead through two innings. Brookings was able to get three runs in the top of the third.

Aidan Austreim had a lead off walk and was then hit home on a triple from Jared Erickson. Erickson would then score on an error. Tyson Antonen scored on a passed ball to make it 6-3.

Neither team scored in the fourth inning and the Bombers were able to score a run in the fifth. Tane Friedrich scored on a passed ball to make it 6-4, but Brandon Valley struck for three runs in the bottom of the inning to make it 9-4 after five.

Erickson hit an RBI single in the top of the sixth to make it 9-5. Brandon Valley answered with a two-run single in the bottom of the inning to make it 11-5 and that would be the final score.

Ethan Clifford pitched the first two innings for the Bombers. He gave up six runs, five earned, on seven hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Connor May pitched the final four innings and gave up five earned runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and one walk.

Erickson was 2-for-4 and Friedrich was 1-for-2. Antonen was 1-for-4.

Game 2

 Brandon Valley 18, Brookings 1 (F/3)

It didn’t take long for Brandon Valley to take game two. The Lynx scored 18 runs on 11 hits in just two innings and came away with the win in three innings due to the 15-run rule.

Brookings lone run came in the third inning when Alex Storhaug scored on a passed ball.

Brookings had one hit and Storhaug had it.

Luke Honkomp pitched 1 1/3 and gave up nine runs, eight earned, on three hits with no strikeouts and six walks.

The Bombers play in the Cubby’s Sports Bar & Grill Tournament in Brookings this weekend.
