MADISON – The Bobcat girls’ tennis team beat Huron 6-3 for its first win of the season and then fell 7-1 to the host Lady Bulldogs during the Madison Triangular on Thursday afternoon.

Brookings beats Huron for first win, falls to Madison

MADISON – The Bobcat girls’ tennis team beat Huron 6-3 for its first win of the season and then fell 7-1 to the host Lady Bulldogs during the Madison Triangular on Thursday afternoon.

Brookings (1-9) plays host to a triangular on Friday, Sept. 7, facing Rapid City Central at noon and Watertown at 5 p.m.

 Brookings 6, Huron 3

The Bobcats won four of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to secure the victory.

Abby Enevoldsen beat Audrey Rubish 8-6 in No. 2 singles.

Marina Du was an 8-5 victor over Abby Thomas at No. 3. Lilly Brandt dropped Madelynn Lord 8-2 at No. 5 and Lynn Foster topped Htee Say by an 8-3 margin in the No. 6 matchup.

In doubles, Du and Tristina Ting beat Beth Engelhart and Lord 8-3 at No. 2. Brandt and Foster posted an 8-6 win over Say and Bianca Medina at No. 3.

The Tigers’ Kayla Harvey defeated Jane Ardry 8-4 in the No. 1 singles match. Harvey and Rubish edged Ardry and Enevoldsen 9-8 (4) at No. 1 doubles.

CC Graham dropped Jane Ardry 8-2 at No. 1 singles. Morgan Wray topped Abby Enevoldsen 8-5 at No. 2.
