Brookings Bombers Black continue to roll

BROOKINGS – The Brookings Bombers Black won both games of a doubleheader against Huron Wednesday night. They beat them by a combined score of 27-4.

Game 1

 Brookings 20, Huron 1 (4 inn.)

The Bombers scored all 20 runs in the first three innings of play en route to a four inning victory.

The Bombers put up 10 runs in the first inning. The inning was highlighted by a two-run triple from Austin Clark. Nolan Miles hit a two-run single and Breck Hirrschoff hit a two-run double as well.

Brookings held Huron scoreless in the top of the second and put up one run in the bottom of the second. The Bombers added nine more runs in the bottom of the third. Clark, Ronning, Griffen Bartels, Sam Johnson and Tate Helmboldt each hit RBI singles in the inning. to make it 20-0.

Huron scored one run in the top of the fourth, but the game ended because of the 15-run rule. Hirrschoff went 3-for-4 with four RBI’s. Clark went 2-for-4 with three RBI’s and Helmboldt went 1-for-1 with three RBI’s.

Game 2

 Brookings 7, Huron 3 (5 inn.)

Brookings used good pitching and defense once again to come away with a win in game two.

Huron scored one run in the top of the first and Brookings responded with two of their own.  Owen Schneider hit an RBI triple and Clark hit an RBI single.

Huron retook the lead with two runs in the top of the second, but Brookings scored a run to tie the game in the bottom of the inning.

Brookings scored four runs in the bottom of the third to take the lead for good. Clark hit a two-run single and Johnson hit an RBI single.

Schneider went 2-for-3 with two RBI’s and Clark went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Johnson went 1-for-1 with an RBI.

The Bombers will play Minnetonka, Minn. Friday in Sioux Falls in the Mid-Summer Classic Tournament.
