Brookings-Deuel Rural Water System holds annual meeting

CLEAR LAKE – Brookings-Deuel Rural Water System held its 46th annual meeting on April 2.  

The meeting was held at the Clear Lake Community Center and approximately 180 members enjoyed a pork loin supper served by Rob’s Locker.

Doug Feten, chairman of the board, called the meeting to order and he discussed financial items and various activities of B-D RWS.  Financial reports and the audit were presented. Gene Wilts, manager, gave a power point presentation of system projects.  

Troy Lenning and Harold Haber were elected for three-year terms.  

Scholarships were awarded to four graduating seniors.  Colby Trooien, Abbey Selleck, Courtni Frank and Rachel Retterath were each awarded a $500 scholarship to be used in their second semester of school.   

At the end of the meeting prizes were drawn and David Orthaus received the $100 leak reward prize.  This award is made to encourage people to report leaks which conserves treated water and makes repair timely.

Brookings-Deuel Rural Water System serves more than 2,600 member service locations and the communities of Astoria, Toronto, White, Gary, Revillo, LaBolt, Altamont, Goodwin, Brandt, Bruce, Elkton, Bushnell and Clear Lake.
