Brookings dominates Rushmore 3-0 in girls' hockey action

RAPID CITY – The Rangers swept Rushmore in South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association girls’ play over the weekend to cap a 3-0 road trip.

They won 10-2 on Saturday and 11-2 on Sunday.

Brookings (9-3-0-1), which posted a 7-1 victory at Oahe on Friday, is third in the league standings with 19 points.

The Rangers are host to Huron on Saturday at 7 p.m., Aberdeen on Sunday at 10 a.m. and Watertown on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 3 p.m. to conclude the regular season.

Saturday

 Brookings 10, Rushmore 2

The Rangers led 3-2 after a period and 4-2 through two before putting up a six-spot in the final stanza.

Savannah Barber led the charge with five points – four goals and an assist.

Montana Myer added two goals and an assist.

Kiran Vugteveen and McKenna Geraets both contributed one goal and one assist.

Brooklyn Roberts and Jenna Schulte also lit the lamp. Janaya Kuehl added an assist.

Goalie Jadyn Runge made 18 saves.

Sunday

 Brookings 11, Rushmore 2

The Rangers were up 4-1 after a period and 5-1 through two before again closing with a six-goal flurry in the third.

Myer notched a hat trick and added an assist.

Barber tallied two goals and a pair of assists.

Kuehl contributed two goals and one assist. Addison Ramlo, Roberts and Schulte each chipped in with a goal and an assist.

Kuehl found the back of the net. Vugteveen added an assist.

Runge stopped 28 shots.
