BROOKINGS – A Brookings man sustained life-threatening injuries on Thursday in a one-vehicle rollover 5 miles north of Brookings on Interstate 29, according to information from Tony Mangan with the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

Mason Hall, 24, was ejected from the 2006 Toyota Tundra he was driving in the accident that occurred at 5:17 p.m. near mile marker 138. Mangan said Hall was taken to Brookings Health System and subsequently airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital. Mangan added that it appeared Hall’s vehicle lost control, slid into the median and rolled into oncoming traffic.

Hall was the only person in the vehicle, and his direction of travel is still being investigated, Mangan said, adding that Hall wasn’t wearing a seat belt and that charges are pending.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. Mangan noted that all information related to the rollover is preliminary.
