Brookings finishes 6th, 8th in Huron invitational

HURON – The Bobcat boys were sixth and the girls ended up eighth at the Clyde Cotton Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at Broadland Creek.

Brookings’ annual invitational is Thursday at 4 p.m. at Edgebrook.

Boys

Sioux Falls Christian won with 34 team points and Aberdeen Central (55) was second.

Brookings had 136 points in sixth.

The Chargers’ Isaac Davelaar was medalist in the 5K in 16 minutes, 24.93 seconds. Milbank’s Nick Batchelor (16:33.99) ended up second.

Sam Conrad paced the Bobcats, placing seventh with a 17:20.34 clocking.

Rounding out the team score, Nick Diersen (18:26.98) was 28th, Kobe Bowser (19:22.07) 49th, Jacob York (19:23.46) 51st and Ian Smith (19:28.53) 52nd.

Also for BHS, Jack Schultz (19:44.55) took 55th and Quentin Eck (20:06.27) was 57th.

Girls

O’Gorman topped the team standings with 39 points, as Brandon Valley (44) was runner-up.

Brookings tallied 194 points in eighth.

The Lady Knights’ Katie Castelli (18:50.66) and Alea Hardie (18:55.74) were 1-2 in the 5K.

Jaixai Reineke crossed in 21:27.08 to lead the Bobcats, as she placed 30th.

Lily Murray (21:44.78) finished 35th, Ashton Scott (21:46.38) 36th, Jenna York (22:07.3) 44th and Madison Kepner (23:52.91) to complete the team tally.
