Traditionally, this display is the finale for the annual Uncle Sam Jam festival at the Swiftel Center. However, due to COVID-19, all Uncle Sam Jam activities have been canceled.

BROOKINGS – The annual Fourth of July fireworks display will blast off as planned for the Brookings community.
Traditionally, this display is the finale for the annual Uncle Sam Jam festival at the Swiftel Center. However, due to COVID-19, all Uncle Sam Jam activities have been canceled.
“The Swiftel Center is proud to continue to host the fireworks display for our community. As a fan-first facility, we sincerely appreciate your support of Swiftel Center events and your understanding,” the Swiftel Center said in a press release. “The annual fireworks display is generously funded by the City of Brookings and Brookings County in collaboration for the holiday celebration. The Brookings Fire Department properly controls and safely sets off all fireworks for the Fourth of July display.
Fireworks details
The Fourth of July fireworks display is scheduled to start shortly after sunset at approximately 10:15 p.m. This time is approximate and pending fair weather conditions. Fireworks may start at a different time than noted. Make arrangements accordingly.
Parking will not be available at the Swiftel Center this year. Viewers are recommended to find a location within city limits to watch the fireworks display.
Fireworks selected for this year’s display are purposely selected to launch higher so viewers can see them when watching from most anywhere within city limits.

Parade is still on
The annual Fourth of July parade is still planned in Brookings this year, Cami Powers of Brookings Radio said. Brookings Radio is taking registrations for parade entries, and the Brookings Fire Department will help line up the parade by the Brookings Police Department on July 4.
Parade registrations may be picked up and submitted at Brookings Radio from 9 a.m.-noon on weekdays, or participants may call 692-1430 to have an entry form mailed to them.
Powers said the parade will start at 11 a.m. July 4 and follow its usual route, except it will travel along Fifth Street instead of Sixth Street this year due to Highway 14 road construction.
The parade will start at the BPD, then head east on Third Street, north on Medary Avenue, west on Fifth Street, and south on Main Avenue back to Third Street.
