Brookings hosts a fun-filled Fourth

BROOKING – Heat and humidity didn’t deter crowds from attending the 39th annual Fourth of July parade in Brookings on Monday morning.

Crowds packed part of the parade route along Third Street, where spectators took in entries such as the Brookings Area Community Band, Uncle Sam leading a pack of Brookings baseball players, and more.

Independence Day festivities continued later in the day at the Swiftel Center, with the Uncle Sam Jam starting at 5 p.m. and the annual fireworks display at dusk.
