Brookings rallies past Huron

HURON – Junior Zokou recorded a hat trick and the Bobcats scored a pair of late goals to edge Huron 4-3 in an Eastern South Dakota Conference boys’ soccer match Monday night at Tiger Stadium.

Brookings (2-1, 2-0) remained unbeaten in league play.

Jonah Dobbs scored in the 76th minute to pull the Bobcats even at 3-3. Zokou assisted.

Zokou netted the game-winner 1 minute later, as Schaffer Vestal was credited with the assist.

Brookings trailed 3-1 at halftime, before Zokou started the rally with a goal in the 45th minute.

Huron struck first on Carlos Yanes’ goal – assisted by Thai Say – in the second minute.

Zokou’s first tally came in the 20th minute. Daniyll Potapenko assisted.

Huron’s Rogelio Sanchez Perez scored in the 25th minute and Kyo Htoo contributed a goal in the 35th minute to give the hosts a 3-1 advantage. Baht Eh Khin assisted on Perez’s goal.

The Bobcats’ Jake Weber made six save in the first half and Zander Larson stopped five shots while not allowing a goal in the second.

Huron fell to 1-2 (0-2).

Brookings (2-1, 2-0) plays host to Harrisburg on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 6 p.m.
