Man suffers hand injury in Tuesday incident

BROOKINGS — An early morning stabbing incident on Tuesday has led to the arrest of a Brookings resident.

Officers with the Brookings Police Department arrested Jeremiah Christensen, 40, of Brookings on suspicion of aggravated assault, BPD Detective Adam Smith wrote in a news release. The incident, which occurred in the 500 block of Fifth Avenue South at approximately 3:03 a.m., resulted in a 34-year-old Brookings man being stabbed in the hand. Smith said the man was treated by emergency medical services on the scene and released.

Christensen was in the Brookings County Detention Center as of 2 p.m. Tuesday.
