Brookings sweeps Yankton on road

YANKTON – The Bobcats completed a regular-season sweep of the Gazelles on Thursday night, winning by the set scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-23 in a nonconference matchup Thursday night at the Summit Center.

Brittany Birgen dished out 26 set assists, netted seven service aces and came up with seven digs.

Johanna Miller, who recorded a pair of blocks, and Regan Weisbeck both had seven kills. Kat Charging added six kills and two blocks. Landree Wilson recorded two blocks.

Molly Steffensen paced the defense with 17 digs, Riley Weisbeck had eight and Tessa Nelson added seven. 

Yankton dropped to 0-17.

The Bobcats beat the Gazelles 25-12, 25-10, 23-25, 25-19 in the Eastern South Dakota Conference matchup Oct. 1 in Brookings.

Brookings (4-12), which has won three of its past four matches, plays at Brandon Valley on Tuesday night.
