Brookings tennis falls to SF Christian, 7-2

BROOKINGS – The Brookings tennis team fell to Sioux Falls Christian in a dual 7-2 on Tuesday at Hillcrest Tennis Courts in Brookings.

The Bobcats won the top-two single matches. Tristina Ting topped Elsa Johnson 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match. Paige Foster beat Karly Doem 6-4, 3-6, 10-3 in the No. 2 match.

SF Christian’s Emily Westenberg beat Brea Tonsager 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 3 match. In the No. 4 match Halle Karmazin of the Chargers defeated Heather Rudd 7-5, 6-3. Jade TenHaken beat Mary Rudd 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 5 match. Brookings’ Sophie Tanner fought hard in the No. 6 match but fell to Ellie Lounsberry 4-6, 6-4, 5-10.

Johnson and TenHaken topped Ting and Foster in the No. 1 doubles match 6-3, 2-6, 10-4. Doom and Maddie Westenberg beat Tonsager and Heather Rudd 6-2, 7-5 in the No. 2 doubles match. In the third doubles match Emily Westenberg and Kara Lemstra defeated Marry Rudd and Tanner 7-5, 6-2.

The Bobcats close out the regular season on Sept. 28 when they head to Huron for the Eastern South Dakota Meet.
