BROOKINGS – The Bobcats posted their third straight win with a 5-3 victory over Sioux Falls Washington on Friday at Bob Shelden Field.

Ryan Miley picked up the win on the mound as the lefty struck out eight in five innings of work while giving up three earned runs on seven hits and a pair of walks.

Jacob Schoon mopped up with two scoreless innings to earn the save as he allowed two hits and walked one with two strikeouts.

The Warriors jumped out to the early lead with a run in each of the first two innings before Brookings scored two to knot it up through two.

Three straight hits by Tyler Kreutner, Schoon and Jacob Devine loaded the bases before Brandin Heesch drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly to right field as Kreutner tagged up and scored to make it 2-1.

Devine got picked off at first base, but stayed alive in the rundown and scrambled back to first safely as Schoon stole third to put runners on the corners.

Cody Niklason’s looping line drive dropped in front of the center fielder and Schoon scampered in from third to tie it up at 2-2.

Brookings plated two more runs in the third as Jameson Meyer drew a walk, and then scored on Kreutner’s one-out triple down the left-field line. Schoon picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly to center field as the ‘Cats led 4-2 through three.

Washington got back one run in the top of the fourth when Joel Swewnson drew a one-out walk; advanced to second on a wild pitch; and moved to third on Matt Hedeen’s infield single to the right side. Cyler Melvin swatted the ball toward third and beat out the throw as Swewnson scored on the second-straight infield hit to make it 4-3 before Miley got out of the inning with a strikeout.

Heesch led off the bottom of the fourth with a walk; advanced to second on a wild pitch; and then, scored on a one-out single to left by Akren Prodoehl as Brookings went back up by two runs and then held on for the win.
