Brookings wins 48-30 at Watertown

WATERTOWN – The Bobcats held Watertown to single digits in all four quarters to cruise to a 48-30 nonconference win over the Arrows on Tuesday night at the Civic Arena.

Brookings jumped out to a 19-9 advantage after a quarter; led 29-18 at halftime; and then, outscored the home team, 19-12, in the second half to improve to 11-3 on the season.

Michaela Jewett dropped a game-high 23 points to lead the ‘Cats, while Johanna Miller added 10 and Ava Burns chipped in with five points and nine rebounds.

Carolyn Hieb contributed four points as Emily Rystrom (4) and Celia Dobrenski (2) came off the bench to round out the Bobcats’ scoring.

Brookings shot 11-of-22 from the field in the first half to build the 11-point lead, which included going 2-for-4 from 3-point range, as the ‘Cats finished 19-of-45 for 42 percent.

Maggie Heesch scored nine points to lead the Arrows, who dropped to 1-13 overall. Mariah Gloe and Megan Fannin both had six points.

The Bobcats, seeded fourth in the SDHSAA standings, play host to Aberdeen Central on Thursday. Tip is set for 7 p.m. from Bob Jostad.
