BROOKINGS – The Blizzard played the Bruins tough but dropped a 3-2 overtime Central Division tussle to Austin on Friday night at Larson Ice Center.

After a scoreless first period, Austin cashed in on a power-play opportunity early in the second before Brookings answered with its own power-play tally as Kendrick Frost lit the lamp off setups by Cam Babiak and Brendan Aird.

Frost scored his second goal a minute later as Aird and Babiak both helped out, but the Bruins answered with less than 90 seconds to play to send it into overtime, tied at 2-2.

Austin needed just 2 minutes and 13 seconds of the extra time to score as the Bruins took advantage of another power-play opportunity to escape with the win.

The Bruins held a 23-21 edge in shots as they cashed in on all three power-play chances that they had.

Brett Miller earned the win in goal with 19 saves while Jack Caruso suffered the loss in spite of collecting 20 stops.

The Rangers, 3-27-2-1, get another shot at the Bruins tonight in Austin. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. at Riverside Arena.
