BROOKINGS – The Blizzard dropped their seventh-straight game – and their third in a row to Austin – with a 2-0 loss to the Bruins on Saturday night at Larson Ice Center.

Jaden Shields lit the lamp with 1:15 left in the third period to give the visitors a 1-0 lead after the first 20 minutes.

Lane Krenzen pushed the Bruins’ lead to 2-0 less than 4 minutes into the second period – and that ended up being the final score as neither team could find the net over the final 36 minutes.

The Blizzard went 0-for-6 on power-play chances to Austin’s 0-of-3 performance as each team finished with 33 shots on goal.

Alex Schilling earned the win in goal with 33 saves as Zachary Borgiel stopped 31 of the 33 shots that he faced in 57 minutes and 40 seconds of play.

Brookings fell to 14-17-2-2 and sits in sixth place in the standings with 32 points. The Bruins are in second-place with 43 points with a 19-10-1-4 record.

The Blizzard travel to Bismarck this weekend to face the Bobcats, who are fifth in the standings with 35 points (16-16-2-1). The puck drops at 7:15 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the VFW Sports Center.
