Building 30 beds

BROOKINGS – Members of the local Modern Woodmen chapters and Dakota Drifters Snowmobile Club and guests teamed up on Sept 14 to build 30 beds for kids through the local chapter “Sleep In Heavenly Peace.”

Modern Woodmen’s three chapters purchased $1,500 worth of materials, and the Dakota Drifters Snowmobile Club raised $3,000 last winter on its charity ride to purchase $3,000 worth of materials. Combined, the group was able to build 30 beds for kids who don’t have one.

“It was an awesome time being able to help kids get a bed and work with members of other organizations to make this happen,” said Dave Miller, the Sleep In Heavenly Peace representative.

Both groups had a great turnout of members to help on the project, said Bob Weisbeck, MWA chapter coordinator.
