Bullets fall to Harrisburg

HARRISBURG – The Brookings Bullets fell to Harrisburg Gold 13-3 in five innings in 16U action Wednesday night.

Brookings scored one run in the top of the first on a David Brink RBI single. Harrisburg responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning and didn’t look back.

The Bullets were able to score two runs in the top of the second. Brink followed up his first inning at-bat with a two-run single in the second. Harrisburg responded once again and scored three runs in the bottom of the inning. 

Harrisburg then scored four runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to end the game via the 10-run rule.

Jack Merritt pitched the first three innings for the Bullets. He gave up eight runs, four earned, on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Jacob Kahle pitched the final inning and gave up five earned runs on five hits with three walks. Brookings had five errors in the field.

Brink and Merritt each went 2-for-3. Tate Helmbolt was 1-for-3.

The Bullets play in the Dakota Classic in Sioux Falls this weekend.
