Bullets split doubleheader at Renner; host twinbill Tuesday


BRANDON – The Bullets split a doubleheader with the Lynx on Saturday, winning Game 1 by an 8-3 margin and then falling 7-2 in the nightcap.

Brookings (6-18) hosts Sioux Falls East in a twinbill Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Game 1

 Brookings 8, Brandon 3

The Bullets plated four runs in the fourth and two in the fifth to break things open.

David Brink (double, single) and Tate Helmbolt (single) both drove in a pair of runs. Jack Merritt added an RBI.

Addison Ronning tossed a complete game, surrendering three runs – only one earned – on eight hits and six walks with on strikeout.

The Lynx put up a five-spot in the first and led 7-0 through two frames.

The Bullets’ Sam Johnson was 3-for-4 and Jack Merritt 2-for-4 as both players scored. David Brink drove in a run.

Jackson Hunter tossed all six innings, allowing seven runs – five earned – on 12 hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
