Burdick beats competitive field in Beef and Eggs 5K

BROOKINGS – Kyle Burdick, of Sioux Falls, maintained a slim lead over Joshua Yeager, of Brookings, down the stretch and gained a couple steps near the finish line of the 2020 Beef and Eggs 5K on Saturday.

Burdick won by 16th annual event by beating Yeager 14:56 to 14:59 (4:48/4:49 pace). Both are 23-year-old former runners at South Dakota State University.

A total of 62 runners competed with Ainsley Powers, an 18-year-old SDSU recruit from Brookings, placing first among woman with a time of 18:28.

There was a strong field of young males with the top 10 finishing with a 5:30 pace or faster.
