FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. – Kyle Burdick and Chase Cayo finished first and second, respectively, as the South Dakota State men’s cross country team won the Oz Memorial, host by Minnesota on Friday at Lee Bolstad Golf Course.
The Jackrabbits totaled 35 team points and Drake (51) was second.
Burdick finished the 4-mile race in 19 minutes, 55.7 seconds. Cayo was runner-up in 20:13.
Running unattached for the Jackrabbits, Micah Mather ended up third with a 20:16.7 clocking.
Lukas Nelson (20:56.7) took 10th, Cal Lawton (21:14.5) was 17th and Gabe Peters (21:16.2) finished 19th to complete the team tally.
On the women’s side, Minnesota won with 25 team points, as North Dakota State (54) was second and SDSU (62) third.
The Gophers’ Abby Kohut-Jackson was medalist in the 6K in a time of 22:35.6 and Anastasia Korzenowski, running unattached for Minnesota, placed second with a 22:43.4 clocking.
Cailee Peterson paced the Jackrabbits, taking ninth in 23:10.3.
Anna Donnay (23:21.1) and Halie Mechels (23:22.6) were 15th and 16th, respectively. Emily Berzonsky (23:35) took 20th and Mackenzie Schell (23:46.3) 24th to round out the team score.
South Dakota State heads back to Falcon Heights, Minn., for the Roy Griak Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 23, at noon.
