BROOKINGS – The Scotty Roberts 5K gets under way Friday evening in downtown Brookings.
Chris Gruenhagen, a 33-year-old Brookings resident, won in a time of 16 minutes, 46 seconds. Gruenhagen last competed in the event in 2012 – a year in which he was also victorious. Tim Fryer, of Hendricks, Minn., placed second on Friday with an 18:49 clocking.
The Brookings Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay begin Saturday at 7 a.m. in Pioneer Park. Each race also concludes in Pioneer Park.
