Cardinals beat Elks for DVC tourney title


ARLINGTON – Devon Heuer and Casey Stegeman combined for 42 points as Arlington beat Elkton-Lake Benton 62-43 in the Dakota Valley Conference Boys’ Basketball Tournament championship game Saturday afternoon.

Heuer dropped in 21 points while adding five steals and two assists.

Stegeman posted a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds. He blocked three shots.

The duo went a combined 13-of-21 from the field.

The Cardinals were up 15-10 after a quarter, 28-21 at halftime and 42-29 through three.

Trey Ramstad added nine points and Trevor Larsen seven. Nick Kersting had two points, seven boards, four steals and a pair of dimes.

The Elks’ Matthew Nibbe finished with 21 points.

Arlington (13-2) heads to Colman-Egan and Elkton-Lake Benton (9-6) plays at Baltic tonight.
