Cardinals, Elks, Divers net wins


ARLINGTON – The host Cardinals beat Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 71-49 in a Dakota Valley Conference boys’ basketball game Friday night.

Arlington was up 16-9 after a quarter, 36-21 at halftime and 53-40 heading to the fourth.

Mason Bunker and Ryker Erstad both scored 18 points and Trey Ramstad added 16.

Casey Stegeman (six points) grabbed 10 rebounds, Ramstad eight and Bunker six.

The Raiders’ Will Matson totaled 14 points and eight boards. Orion Albertson chipped in with 12 markers.

Arlington (5-1, 3-1) heads to Deuel and ORR (2-4, 1-3) is host to Colman-Egan in Rutland on Tuesday. 

 Elkton-Lake Benton 62, Colman-Egan 41

COLMAN – Matthew Nibbe and Grant DeRuyter led the Elks past the Hawks in the DVC clash.

Nibbe posted a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds.

DeRuyter had 19 points and nine boards.

ELB was ahead 19-12 after a quarter, 32-25 at halftime and 47-32 through three.

The Hawks, who were playing without Dalton Voelker, got a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds from Nate Tolley. Chase Hemmer contributed 13 points, five boards, four steals and three assists.

Elkton-Lake Benton (5-2, 3-1) plays Alcester-Hudson today in Alcester. Colman-Egan (1-5, 0-3) is host to Bridgewater-Emery on Monday.

 Lake Preston 66, Estelline/Hendricks 61, 2 OT

LAKE PRESTON – The Divers outscored the Redhawks 14-9 in the second overtime period to secure the victory.

Tied at 22-all at halftime, Lake Preston was up 35-30 through three. It was knotted up at 48-48 at the end of regulation and both teams scored four points in the first OT.

Jasper Denison dropped in a game-high 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the win.

Carter Malone had 18 points and Jarrett Brown 11 to go with five assists and five steals. Austin Strande corralled nine boards and blocked a pair of shots.

EH’s Riley Bennis scored 20 points. Marcis Hausman totaled 15 points, seven assists, seven steals and six assists.

On Tuesday, Lake Preston (4-3, 2-2) is host to Castlewood and Estelline/Hendricks (4-3, 1-3) welcomes Great Plains Lutheran.
