Cardinals, Redhawks, Fliers, Hawks pick up VB wins

Arlington, Estelline/Hendricks, Flandreau, and Colman-Egan all picked up wins on Tuesday night in volleyball among area class “A” and “B” teams, while Sioux Falls Roosevelt swept Brookings in a “AA” matchup.

Arlington defeated Oldham-Ramona/Rutland and Flandreau beat Parker in four-set matches, while Estelline/Hendricks swept Lake Preston and Colman-Egan defeated Deubrook Area in straight sets.

• Estelline/Hendricks 3, Lake Preston 0

ESTELLINE – Kenzy Beare’s eight kills and five blocks helped Estelline/Hendricks to a straight-set win over Lake Preston on Tuesday night in Estelline.

Set scores were 25-20, 25-23, and 25-14.

Kate Wegner scored a game-high four aces, along with four kills and 23 digs.

Heidi Nicola and Sadie Johnson each had two kills, with Johnson also having 20 set assists and 18 digs.

Rachel Hexem added three blocks for the Redhawks.

Lake Preston was led by Annika Nelson with four kills, and both Faith Steffensen and Marissa Rober with three each. Nelson also had 11 digs and both her and Hadlee Holt recorded two blocks each.

Danielle Oregaard had three service aces for the Divers.

Ava Malone led Lake Preston with 14 digs.

Lake Preston falls to 6-20 on the season. The Divers final regular season game is Monday, Oct. 25 as they host Oldham-Ramona/Rutland.

Estelline/Hendricks improves to 16-10 on the year with a lone game left on the schedule next Tuesday at Elkton-Lake Benton.

• Flandreau 3, Parker 1

FLANDREAU – Claire Sheppard had 13 kills to lead Flandreau to a four-set win over Parker on Dig Pink Night in Flandreau on Tuesday night.

Set scores were 25-20, 25-10, 15-25, and 25-20.

Maria Parsley and Abby Schoeberl both had a pair of service aces for the Fliers. Schoeberl also led the team with 20 set assists.

Lily Klein had 20 digs and four blocks, while Sadie Iott added 18 digs and six kills.

Bella Pavlis also had four kills for Flandreau.

Flandreau is now 5-19 on the year and travels to Clear Lake on Friday for a matchup with the Deuel Cardinals.

• Colman-Egan 3, Deubrook Area 0

COLMAN – Colman-Egan picked up a win at home over Deubrook Area on Tuesday in Colman.

The Hawks won by scores of 25-19, 25-18, and 25-19.

Mackenzie Hemmer had 13 kills while Hailey Larson and Daniela Lee each had nine for Colman-Egan.

Kadance Landis posted three service aces.

Ava Mousel led the Hawks with 24 set assists and Lanie Mousel added 14.

Deubrook Area’s Emma Vandermeer led the Dolphins with ten kills, while Miranda Moravetz had five.

Vandermeer also had five blocks (one solo and four assists) along with seven digs and an ace.

Brooke Koppatschek’s 12 set assists paced Deubrook Area with Ellie Koenig adding eight.

Deubrook Area is now 17-11 on the year and will travel to Baltic next Tuesday.

Colman-Egan picked up win number 20 against six losses and will play host to Garretson on Friday.

• Arlington 3, Oldham-Ramona/Rutland 1

RAMONA – After seeing their long winning streak come to an end at the Dakota Valley Conference tournament this past weekend, Arlington got back in the win column with a four-set win over the homestanding Raiders of Oldham-Ramona/Rutland.

The Cardinals won by set scores of 25-19, 21-25, 25-20, and 25-15.

Hadley Carlson again led the Cardinals with a big night of attacking, posting 26 kills to go along with 17 digs and a pair of blocks.

Grace Parry had four service aces to go along with 40 set assists, while Harley Johnson added three aces.

Morgan Larsen added seven kills, and Natalie Burns chipped in with a pair of blocks.

For the Raiders, Julia Trygstad led the team with 18 kills and Alivia Bickett added ten.

ORR posted nine service aces as a team with Trygstad logging three.

Paige Hanson had three blocks to go along with 13 set assists.

Sine Matson and Bickett had 21 and 20 digs, respectively.

Arlington is now 26-4 on the year and will travel to Chester on Monday to take on the Flyers.

Oldham-Ramona/Rutland slips to an even 13-13 with a matchup at Castlewood on Friday.

• Sioux Falls Roosevelt 3, Brookings 0

SIOUX FALLS – Sioux Falls Roosevelt picked up a straight-set win over Brookings in volleyball on Tuesday night inside the Rough Riders gym in Sioux Falls.

Set scores were 25-18, 25-22, and 25-16.

Gracie Adamson posted 11 kills to lead the Bobcats, while both Landree Wilson and Gracey Sheridan had five kills each.

Adamson and Tayla Dobrenski each had two blocks for the Bobcats.

Emily Harms had 28 set assists, while Morgan Linstad posted a pair of service aces.

Riley Weisbeck posted 20 digs and Adamson ten for Brookings, who fall to 8-14 on the year.

Roosevelt was led by Mya Vandrovec with nine kills, and both Abby Ward and Zoie Husman had eight kills.

Brookings will host Sioux Falls Jefferson Friday night on the Bobcats’ Dig Pink night at Brookings High School. First serve of the varsity match is at 7 p.m.
