Caroline Doop - Flandreau

Caroline C. Doop, 86, of Flandreau, formerly of Brookings, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021, at Sanford USD Medical Center, in Sioux Falls. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Brookings. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Masks are suggested to be worn when attending services. The service will be livestreamed through Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church webpage. Rude’s Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Caroline Clara Berwald was born on Feb. 4, 1935, in Sisseton, SD, the daughter of Ernest and Evelyn (Schmidt) Berwald. She grew up in Summit, SD, and attended country school. She was united in marriage to Wayne Doop on June 30, 1953, in Watertown, SD. She worked at home until she began working at 3M. She retired from 3M after 17 years.
She was a member of Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church. Caroline had a heart of serving others. She opened her home, heart and kitchen to many people over the years. She was selfless in her ability to provide whatever she could to someone in need.
She loved her family and cherished the time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She moved to Flandreau in 2019 following the passing of her husband of 66 years.
She is survived by her children, Daniel Doop, of Arizona, Dianna Ramon, of Brookings, SD, Darla (Jeff) Huffman, of Flandreau, SD, Timothy Doop of Sioux Falls, SD, and Thomas Doop, of Madison, SD; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sister, Dolly Kruse, of Naperville, IL and one brother, Gordon Berwald of Summit, SD and special friend, Morris Tietjen, of Ortonville, MN.
She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Wayne; one son, Jonathan Wayne; grandson, Jonathan Daniel; four sisters, Elaine, Marian, Lavina and Dianna and two brothers, Alan and Arlen.
