Cathy A. Haan, 67, of Brookings, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at her home in Brookings.
Memorial services are at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 5 p.m.
Cathy Ann Patterson was born on Nov. 10, 1949, in Brookings, the daughter of Keith and Evelyn (Jones) Patterson. She grew up in Volga and graduated from Volga High School in 1968.
She married Norman Haan. She attended business administration school in Watertown. She became a secretary for various departments at South Dakota State over the years. She retired in 2006.
Cathy loved horses and would often go riding with her friends. She enjoyed going to the lake, going on drives and stopping by small-town bakeries.
She attended many of her grandchildren’s sporting events to root them on. She spent a lot of time watching movies and doing needle point stitch work.
She is survived by her two children, Kimberly (fiancé, Tom Gehm) Williams of De Smet and Robert Haan of Watertown; five grandchildren; three sisters, Jackie Bjerke of Brookings, Pam Krage of Brookings and Marce Henle of Tempe, Ariz., and several nieces and nephews.
