’Cats finish 15th at Huron Invite

HURON – The Brookings girls’ golf team shot 425 and took 15th in the Huron Invitational on Thursday at Broadland Creek.

Sioux Falls O’Gorman won the team title with a 333. Aberdeen Central (340), Yankton (341), Pierre (347) and Rapid City Stevens (349) were second through fifth, respectively.

Harrisburg’s Megan Parson fired a 78 to claim medalist honors.

Rapid City Central’s Erin Trohkimoinen placed second, the Raiders’ Natalie Young was third and the Lady Knights’ Jenna Sutcliffe finished fourth as all three golfers shot 80.

The Gazelles’ Linze Cowman rounded out the top five with an 81.

Brooke Piearson paced the Bobcats with an 86, putting her in 21st.

Nicole Steen shot 101 for 60th. Macey Fields took 80th with a 117. Shaylee Kuehl shot 121 to complete the team tally as she ended up 81st.

The Yankton Invitational is today at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest.
