‘Cats roll past Trojans; boys earn share of conference title


BROOKINGS – The Bobcat boys’ bowling team earned a share of the conference title with a 37-13 defeat of West Central on Tuesday at Prairie Lanes. They posted a 10-1 record.

Mason McManus rolled a 582 (168-191-223) series, Logan Bren a 573 (224-176-173) series, Alex Couser a 571 (158-161-192), Evan Vernarsky a 500 (149-160-191) and Gabe Boyer a 467 (152-136-179). Stanley Scubelek had a 171 game, while Dylan Cramer added games of 120 and 128.

The Brookings girls (7-4) won 48-2.

Ellie Fitzpatrick had a 490 (169-146-175) series, Katlyn Pederson a 448 (131-154-163), Kyra Ernst a 439 (135-172-132), Brooke Seeley a 429 (123-160-146), Erin Hulberg a 397 (137-141-119) and Brooklyn Hieb a 376 (127-128-121).

The Bobcat girls’ junior varsity team capped an 11-0 regular season with a 50-0 victory.

Kacee Rhody recorded a 425 (151-120-154) series, Joy Warne a 368 (121-108-139), Catelyn Vernarsky a 319 (119-95-105), Teagen Bremmon a 312 (96-92-124), Janine Warne a 306 (87-100-119) and Megan Seeley a 278 (92-84-102).

The JV boys’ team capped a 6-5 campaign with a 50-0 triumph.

Stanley Scubelek added games of 162 and 210 to finish with a 543 series. Aarick Dicke had a 475 (159-175-141), Dylan Scubelek a 420 (145-146-129), Tyler Cameron a 378 (139-109-130), Travis Block a 364 (104-132-128) and David Eberline a 355 (114-109-132).

The JV state tournament is next week, followed by the varsity state tournament on Feb. 21-22 in Yankton.
