BROOKINGS – Area residents in need of a helping hand once again benefitted from the “Celebrate Community!” project sponsored by Brookings Kiwanis, Lions, Optimist and Rotary clubs.
Hundreds of non-perishable food items were collected for the Brookings Food Pantry, while diapers and baby supplies were distributed to the Harvest Table. Household and hygiene supplies were donated to the Salvation Army.
Service club leadership expressed gratitude to the community for dropping off donations to the Century 21 truck parked outside the Brookings radio stations, and representatives of the recipient organizations thanked the clubs for organizing the event.
“So happy to have caring people in the community and so happy to be able to brighten the day of other people!” noted one of the agencies in its thank you note to the clubs. Service organization members said they anticipate future collaborative efforts to benefit the community.
