BROOKINGS – The Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce has emailed a warning that fake $100 bills have been circulated in town.
“Two Chamber members have taken fraudulent bills, so this urgent message is being sent out so our membership is aware of what to look for to save your business some time, money and hassle,” according to the email that was sent Wednesday.
“The $100 bills are tattered with ‘MOTION PICTURE PURPOSES’ on the top/back of the bill with ‘IN PROPS WE TRUST’ underneath that,” the email said.
“Secret Service is aware and are working with local authorities,” the email said.
Chamber members are welcome to call the Chamber with questions or information at 696-7553.
