BROOKINGS – Sioux Falls Christian swept the team titles at the Scott Underwood Invitational on Monday at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.

Girls

The Chargers placed sixth in the final event of the day – the 4x400-meter relay – to finish with 51 points and edge Sioux City North (50) for the team title.

Viborg-Hurley was third at 47, followed by Canby/ Minneota (44) in fourth and Chamberlain (43) in fifth.

Lake Preston totaled 40 points for sixth place. Deubrook Area ended up ninth at 36.

Karley DeKnikker had a solid day for the Divers, including a win in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.53 seconds.

She was fourth in the 100 hurdles (17.44) and teamed with Lindsay Hillestad, Ashley Neeley and Ashlyn DeKnikker for a fourth-place showing in the 4x400 relay with a 4:30.68 clocking.

Ashlyn DeKnikker ended up second in the 800 (2:31.66) and seventh in the 400 (1:04.13). Rylie Brown finished third in the 200 (27.33) and fifth in the 100 (13.14).

The Dolphin quartet of Andrea Vandermeer, Shaylee DeBeer, Josie Olsen and Cortney Bauman prevailed in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 10:17.94.

Olsen took third in the 3,200 (12:53.05) and seventh in the 800 (2:34.45).

Vandermeer added a fourth-place showing in the 1,600 (5:57.03), while DeBeer wound up fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 32 feet, 11 1/4 inches.

Ashley Vandermeer placed third in the triple jump (34-6) and sixth in the 200 (27.71).

Arlington totaled 15.6 points to take 16th in the team standings.

Brylee Hennrich placed third in the 800 in 2:32.11 and fifth in the 400 with a 1:02.95 clocking.

Jayna Haufschild cleared 7-6 in the pole vault to take fourth. Jade Gallagher tied for sixth in the high jump (4-6).

Sioux Valley’s Nikole Ziegler tied for third in the high jump (4-8) and was eighth in the long jump (14-8).

Colman-Egan’s Haleigh Nicol had a mark of 30-5 1/2 in the triple jump, putting her in seventh. Katie Hannasch, Mackenzie Hemmer, Elizabeth Moore and Olivia Baumberger were eighth in the 4x100 in 54.76.

There were a pair of double winners on the girls’ side, including Chamberlain’s Ella Byers, who shattered the meet record in the 1,600 (5:09.81) and also took the 800 (2:23.78) title. She was named the outstanding performer of the meet.

Chester Area’s Josie Wolf was tops in the 200 (26.97) and long jump (16-5).

Boys

Sioux Falls Christian cruised to the team title with 122 points.

Sioux City North (48) and Chester Area (47.5) were second and third, respectively, while Spirit Lake and Dell Rapids tied for fourth at 46.

Colman-Egan’s 38 points were good for sixth.

Devin Lohr, Bodee Groos, Kade Groos and Walker Olivier teamed for a second-place showing in the 4x100 in 45.55 seconds.

Cole Kriech was third in the 400 (52.36) and Malik Poppenga matched that finish in the triple jump (41-3 1/2).

Olivier finished fifth in both the 110 hurdles (16.57) and 300 hurdles (43.39) while adding a seventh-place showing in the 200 (24.33).

Kade Groos placed sixth in the 400 (52.74) and seventh in the 100 (11.79).

Bodee Groos, Poppenga, Kade Groos and Kriech took sixth in the 4x400 in 3:41.71.

Arlington’s Logan Brandriet was sixth in the pole vault (8-6).

Sioux Valley’s Nick Strasburg ended up eighth in the triple jump (37-10).

Deubrook Area’s Aczel Garcia, Kobey Landmark, Colby Trooien and Brock Sheffield finished eighth in the 4x800 in 9:34.84.

Viborg-Hurley’s Logan Hansen was first in the 400 (50.72) and 800 (2:00.19) while earning outstanding performer honors on the boys’ side. Chester Area’s Riley Greenhoff won the 100 (11.29) and 200 (23.13).

Sioux City North’s Noah Weeter won the 110 hurdles (15.23) and also ran a leg on the victorious 4x100 relay team.

Sioux Falls Christian’s Lance VanZee won the 1,600 (4:37.1) and was a member of the winning 4x800 squad, while teammate Dejay Fykstra was tops in the high jump (6-4) and also on the victorious 4x400 relay team.
