Child care center planners ask for city ARPA funds

BROOKINGS – Plans are afoot for a new child care center in Brookings, and the backers of the proposed $1.5 million project are seeking $500,000 of the city’s American Rescue Plan Act funding to help get the ball rolling. Members of the Brookings City Council heard about the facility, which would be licensed and would initially house 80 children from newborns to age 5, at the council’s July 19 study session.
