BROOKINGS – Local children’s book author Barb Bolton Walder will make a guest appearance to sign copies of her new work, “Let Your Dreams Take You Anywhere You Want To Explore,” from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday at Trendz, 225 Main Ave., Brookings.
Walder’s book ventures into the subconscious of her grandson as he drifts off to sleep, following his dreams through the night wherever they take him. Walder both authored and provided the graphic illustration for the book. The longtime Brookings resident and first-time author will discuss the meaning behind her new book and sign copies for purchase at the event.
“When my 4-year-old grandson said he had a dream that he had trained a dragon to fly so that the dragon could fly him to my house to see me, it melted my heart,” Walder said. “It also gave me the inspiration to start writing this book because there is something beautiful about the vivid dreams children have about the simplest of life’s pleasures.”
Walder is a retired educator who taught in the Brookings School District for nearly 40 years.
“This book holds lessons we can all appreciate,” Walder said. “You’re never too old to let your dreams take you places.”
