CHS store burgled in Elkton

ELKTON – Cash was stolen and thousands in damage was done during a burglary at the CHS store in Elkton, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The break-in was reported at 6:20 a.m. Monday and occurred at 109 East First St. in Elkton, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.

“It was found that sometime between noon Saturday to 6:15 a.m. Monday, a suspect or suspects broke into CHS store,” Sebring said. 

“Entry was gained into the building by prying open an exterior door and interior door where they entered the office area, damaging property and stealing an undisclosed amount of cash. The damage to the doors, siding and office area is estimated at $3,500,” Sebring said.
