Church damaged in hit-and-run

WHITE – A church in White was damaged during a hit-and-run accident this week, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident was reported at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday and occurred at St. Paul Catholic Church in White, Sgt. Jon Pike said. The accident occurred sometime between 5:30 p.m. Monday to 9:20 a.m. Tuesday.

“An unknown vehicle was traveling north on Hooker Avenue in White and crossed the southbound lane of travel and struck the entrance to the church on the east side of the building. The cost to repair the church was estimated at $250,” Pike said.
