HARRISBURG – The Brookings junior legion team went 1-1 in doubleheader against Harrisburg on Wednesday.
Game 1
• Harrisburg 11, Brookings 1 (5 inn.)
Harrisburg used a seven-run third inning to come away with a 10-run rule victory.
They jumped out to a 10-0 lead after the first four innings. Brookings finally got on the board in the top of the fifth inning.
Braden Clifford and Tyson Brandt led off the fifth with walks. Clifford scored on a Payton Theodosopoulos ground out. Brookings was unable to score any more runs and the game ended due to the 10-run rule.
The ‘Chutes had one hit during the game and it was from Austin Witte. Theodosopoulos had the lone RBI for Brookings. Josh Devine picked up the loss for the ‘Chutes. He pitched two and two thirds innings and gave up six runs on five hits. He struck out one batter and walked one.

Game 2
• Brookings 14, Harrisburg 7
Broookings scored six runs in the final two innings to come away with a victory in game two.
Neither team scored in the first inning. Harrisburg held the ‘Chutes scoreless in the top of the second and then took the lead by scoring one run in the bottom of the inning.
The ‘Chutes were able to tie the game in the top of the third. Parker Winghart, Theodosopoulos and Devine walked to start the inning. Justin Cofell then grounded into a double, but Winghard scored on the play. Harrisburg went down one-two-three in the bottom of the third.
The ‘Chutes took the lead in the top of the fourth when Jett Leddy scored on an error by the third baseman. Harrisburg scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 5-2 after four innings. Brookings went scoreless in the top of the fifth and Harrisburg scored two more runs in the bottom of the inning to make it 7-2.
Brookings scored six runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead. Theodosopoulos hit a bases clearing triple to make it 8-7. The ‘Chutes held Harrisburg scoreless in the bottom of the sixth.
Brookings added six more runs in the top of the seventh to put the game out of reach. Devine hit a two-run double and Theodosopoulos hit a sacrifice fly.
Theodosopoulos went 1-for-2 with four RBI’s and Devine went 1-for-4 with two RBI’s. Brandt picked up the win for the ‘Chutes after pitching the final three innings. He gave u two earned runs on three hits. He struck out three batters and walked three.
The ‘Chutes will play a doubleheader at Huron on July 13.
