FARGO, N.D. – The ‘Chutes went 2-0 in pool play at the Jim McLaughlin Junior Legion Tournament on Friday at Jack Williams Stadium, beating Perham, Minnesota, 4-3 in nine innings and the host Fargo Bombers 10-5 in four innings.
Brookings (6-2) wraps up pool play taking on Sioux Falls West today at 3:30 p.m.
The tourney concludes Sunday with the seventh- (Matson Field) and fifth-place games at 8 a.m., the third-place matchup at 10:30 a.m. and the championship at 1 p.m.

Max Kjelden’s walkoff single sealed the deal after the ‘Chutes rallied to force extra innings.
Ashton Witte walked to open the bottom of the ninth before stealing second and taking third on a wild pitch. Henry Hammrich walked.
Kjelden stepped up next and hit a sharp single to left to plate Witte with the winning run.
Brookings trailed 3-1 heading to the seventh.
Trey Svennes and Max Struck reached on errors to get it going. Witte’s one-out single loaded the bases.
Hammrich came up with a big two-run single to left to knot the score at 3-all.
Hammrich led off the first with a walk and stole both second and third. Jamison Honkomp’s sacrifice fly to right opened the scoring.
Perham got a two-run double in the top of the fourth and added a run in the sixth to move ahead 3-1.
Svennes pitched the final seven innings to earn the win, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks with a strikeout. Witte, the starter, threw two scoreless innings, striking out two and walking a pair.
Kyle Bauer had the ‘Chutes’ other hit.

Honkomp went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored while also picking up the win on the mound to lead the ‘Chutes.
He allowed five runs – four earned – on three hits and five walks with a pair of strikeouts in four innings.
Kjelden totaled four RBIs. Bauer (two RBIs), Witte and Struck contributed two hits apiece. Hammrich scored three times.
Honkomp had an RBI single and scored on Jake Ammann’s groundout in the first.
In the second, Kjelden plated Mason Bebensee with a sacrifice fly. Honkomp notched an RBI double and Bauer had a two-run single to push the margin to 6-0.
The Bombers scored four runs in the bottom of the second.
Brookings scored four more runs in the fourth.
Hammrich was hit by a pitch to force in Bauer and Kjelden followed with a bases-clearing double to put the ‘Chutes ahead 10-4.
Fargo closed out the scoring with one run in the bottom of the fourth.
