BROOKINGS – The Brookings City Council honored two men Tuesday night.

Above, Robert McGrath shares an elbow bump with Mayor Keith Corbett as Corbett honors McGrath with a mayoral proclamation in recognition of his service to the city.

McGrath worked for the City of Brookings for over 30 years and, after retiring, served on the Board of Health for another 10 years. McGrath chaired the Brookings County Pandemic Planning and Coordination Committee for 14 years, participated in tabletop exercises and points of dispensing events to help the community prepare for pandemics.

The Brookings County Pandemic Planning and Coordination Committee began in 2006 as a partnership between public, private and faith-based organizations. The purpose of the Pandemic Planning and Coordination Committee is to develop a community plan for a pandemic including setting up a 96-bed alternative care site.

Below, Dan Hansen served his last meeting as a councilor last Tuesday. His term expired and he did not seek re-election. Hansen served on the council for six years.
