Kali Lamp’s first-grade class at Dakota Prairie Elementary hosted an event on Tuesday, May 17, for police officers in Brookings in honor of National Police Week.

The class wanted to show them how much they are appreciated.

Officers came to the school and had a catered meal. Learners gave them a thank-you post card and a cookie to leave for the rest of their day with.

The class expressed appreciation to the officers who took time out of their day to attend this event.

The first-grade class works to make community connections and show appreciation for the great community.

The class also expressed appreciation to Valley Restaurant for providing the meal and for Lance Trucking of Volga for sponsoring it.
