BROOKINGS – Created with the belief of the strong image of the child and that children should have a voice in their learning experiences, the Children’s Museum of South Dakota is introducing a youth-based advisory board.
Members of the Kidoodle Council will be ambassadors for the museum in the community, generate ideas for programs and exhibits, and provide feedback to museum staff guiding direction in future operations.
“Kidoodle Council will be an important piece in the museum’s mission to spark imagination and learning for all,” Associate Director Mike Mogard said. “We are excited to embark on this intentional effort to gain the talent and expertise of youth who know play best.”
The council, for children ages 6-12, is named after Kidoodle, the museum’s mascot. Kidoodle’s name, colors and fun personality are the direct result of ideas of children.
Members of the Kidoodle Council will meet nine times throughout the year on Saturday mornings and will participate in additional volunteer opportunities. Applications are due by Nov. 1 and are available at www.prairieplay.org and by calling 692-6700.
