KANSAS CITY, Mo. – South Dakota State continues to garner awards for its solid 2022 season as four Jackrabbits were named to the 2022 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women’s All-West Region Team, the organization announced Wednesday. Among the selections were Maya Hansen (First Team), Karlee Manding (Second Team), Kaycee Manding (Second Team) and Laney Murdzek (Third Team).
Hansen was the 2022 Summit League Offensive Player and earned her second All-Region Team accolades of her college career. The SDSU forward finished the year with 11 goals and 27 points in 17 contests. She currently stands as the program’s all-time points leader with 96 and sits in a tie for the program goals record with 39.
The fourth-year senior is just the second all-time choice for SDSU to the organization’s All-Region First Team, joining Gabby Vivier-Hannay’s selection to the team in the spring of 2021.
SDSU’s Manding sisters were standouts for the Jackrabbits in 2022 and were both Second Team All-Region picks.
Karlee Manding played in all 19 matches and started in 18 while competing 1,184 minutes on the pitch. She ended the season with 10 points, all coming from assists. Her assist total is tied for the second best single-season mark in program history. Kaycee Manding played in every match for the Jacks and started in all but one game. Her breakout year saw her play more than double the amount of time she had previously competed in during a season as she saw nearly 1,400 minutes of action. She also dished out five assists which was nearly a top-10 single-season total.
Murdzek started in every match during SDSU’s 2022 slate and played the fourth most minutes on the team seeing 1,248 minutes of action. The midfielder was second on the squad in points scored with 11 and goals with four. She had three game-winning goals for the Jackrabbits to help lead SDSU to their 2022 record of 13-1-5.
The four selections to the United Soccer Coaches Women’s All-West Region Team are the most ever for SDSU in a single season. The four Jackrabbits were previously chosen as 2022 All-Summit League First Team selections.
