SIOUX FALLS - South Dakota State starter Tori Kniesche earned two victories in the circle this past weekend and for her efforts was named the TicketSmarter Summit League Peak Pitcher of the Week the conference announced on Monday.
Kniesche helped lead SDSU to two wins at the Jayhawk Invitational in Lawrence. Kniesche completed a shutout and gave up one run in victories over Central Arkansas and Kansas, respectively.
In the 3-0 win over the Sugar Bears Friday, Kniesche threw seven innings and gave up just three hits and two walks. She struck out a season-high 10 batters. She followed that effort on Sunday by leading the Jackrabbits to a 2-1 win over the Jayhawks. Kniesche threw another complete game. She allowed one run on three hits and five walks to go along with eight strikeouts. She lowered her ERA on the season to 1.94 in the process.
