BROOKINGS – Brookings County commissioners on Tuesday awarded the Brookings County Pandemic Planning and Coordination Committee with certificates of appreciation for members’ time and dedication to helping make the county a better place to live. The Committee was actively involved in COVID-19 mitigation efforts, including Points of Dispensing (POD) clinics, while demonstrating a commitment to the greater good of the county during the past year.

“This committee ... has set an exceptional example of what it means to be outstanding citizens,” a county resolution honoring the committee says. The commission’s resolution says “that recognition and thanks be given to the members of the Brookings County (PPCC) for all their efforts.”

Those honored by the resolution include: Pete Bolzer (City of Brookings Fire Department), Bunny Christie (Brookings Health System), Louise Coull (Brookings Health System), Gordon Dekkenga (Brookings Health System), Dave Erickson (Brookings Police Department), Robert Hill (Brookings County), Jacob Meshke (City of Brookings), Patrick Siegling (Avera Medical Group Brookings), Scott Smith (Swiftel Center), Steve Timmerman (Brookings Health System) and Andrea Wheelhouse (Avera Medical Group Brookings).
